Folding@home is a distributed computing project which studies protein folding, misfolding, aggregation, and related diseases. They use novel computational methods and large scale distributed computing, to simulate timescales thousands to millions of times longer than previously achieved. This has allowed them to simulate folding for the first time, and to now direct their approach to examine folding related disease.

You can view a 3 dimensional stereograph of the current protein being folded by clicking on the stereograph link. The stereograph can be viewed by printing the graphic out and loading it into a stereoscope, or without equipment, by looking at it on your computer monitor and slightly crossing your eyes until the left and right images overlap into a third image in the center. It takes a little bit of practice but when you get the knack, you can do it quickly. This stereograph is created by fpd, a nifty program by R. P. Howell IV and A. J. Kraus (bundled with InCrease folding software) that reads the folding data file and displays an interactive graphic of the protein.
