8-27: The Folding@home servers were so late in reporting last weeks results I had to move it to the end of the week. Hopefully we will get back on track next week. Team Crunchinator did very well last week by crunching 24 units and earning 2,483 points. It's going down today in the Hobbies department.
8-25: The NRA Archive is updated today with the monthly NRA page features for August: Armed Citizen, Standing Guard, and The President's Column. Each of these features are valuable, information packed columns that you will find extremely helpful and interesting even if you are not a firearms owner yourself. For one, it keeps you apprised of the relative honesty and the intentions of the politicos you vote for. For another, it shows you the value of owning your own firearm for protection, recreation, hobby, business, and because for now anyway... you can. The Archives are available any day of the month from the NRA page in the Extra department, look for the link down at the bottom of the table of contents.
8-23: The Folding@home server hasn't coughed up any new data relating to last weeks crunching so I'm posting to the Chili Pepper Gardener's Diary in the Chili Peppers section of the Hobbies department instead. Another harvest and a tentative decision.
8-19: "It's clear that young people today have fewer opportunities for hunting and shooting than many of us had when we were young. That's why I'm a strong supporter of NRA's Youth Hunter Education Challenge (YHEC), a vitally important effort that marks its 25th anniversary this summer." Read all about it on the President's Column in the NRA section of the Extra department.
8-16: Another great week at Team Crunchinator. I would suspect that someone is contributing to our team but they don't show up in the team member stats. We earned 2,233 points by crunching 19 work units. I guess Termie is peddling harder than ever. He's been working out you see. Anyway, check out our Folding@home page in the Hobbies department.
8-13: The chili pepper harvest is starting to get serious. 11 more Bhut Jolokias are drying in my oven. Check out the latest ghost chili news in the Chili Pepper Gardener's Diary in the Chili Pepper section of the Hobbies department.
8-12: "Violent crime will continue to metastasize in Chicago until citizens there share the same rights promised by the Founding Fathers-the means to exercise their God-given right to armed self-defense. And whether through legal action as in the McDonald case or on the legislative front, NRA will remain in the forefront aggressively fighting to make sure all peaceable Americans share in that life-saving right." Read all about it on the Standing Guard page in the NRA section of the Extra department.
8-9: I'm beginning to suspect that Termie is cooking the numbers. Team Crunchinator had another stellar week last week by crunching 18 work units and earning 2,233 points! Holy cow. Check it out in the Hobbies department.
8-4: "Armed Citizen" is an article in the "American Rifleman" very similar to one of my favorite feature articles in "Guns & Ammo" called "Armed Response". These articles consist of short accounts describing the use of firearms by private citizens to protect lives and property. These are the stories that the mainstream media ignore because they are not so much interested in presenting the truth as much as they are interested in furthering their anti-gun agendas. Some very interesting reading here. It's going on in the NRA section of the Extra department.
8-3: Good results over at Team Crunchinator in the Hobbies department. Maybe too good. Somehow we crunched 16 work units this week and earned 2,149 points doing so. Sometimes the Folding@home server acts a little screwy, this may be a case in point. That or they have been giving out mini units for me to crunch.
8-2: Just as the song says, "When the log rolls over, we'll all be dead" and web page news is no exception. The heavy hand of time has rolled over the News of July into the News of August but these gems of wisdom and light are not lost to the ages. You can sift through the gruesome dried bones of carnal folly in the labyrinthine catacombs of updates past in the House of Wacks Archives. Play a ribcage like a marimba using the arm bones of yesterdays news. Who knows, you may find a few gold teeth you can stomp out with your ... er ... +5 Jack Boot of Looting.
