1-28: The NRA Archive is updated today with the monthly NRA page features for January: Armed Citizen, Standing Guard, and The President's Column. Each of these features are valuable, information packed columns that you will find extremely helpful and interesting even if you are not a firearms owner yourself. For one, it keeps you apprised of the relative honesty and the intentions of the politicos you vote for. For another, it shows you the value of owning your own firearm for protection, recreation, hobby, business, and because for now anyway... you can. The Archives are available any day of the month from the NRA page in the Extra department, look for the link down at the bottom of the table of contents.
1-26: OK this sucks. Team Crunchinator brought the computers down early this week because an electrician needed to shut down power to the house. It turns out that Termie didn't check to see if Folding@Home had restarted when the computers were rebooted. It turns out it didn't and we lost half a week of crunching. Termie can be reached at Saint Owie Mercy Hospital room 777 if you want to send him some flowers. Broken bones on a termite are slow to heal so I'll be taking over for a while. View our miserable progress in the Hobbies department.
1-21: "With the elections now behind us and the holiday season at hand, it is time to consider the many blessings of freedom we enjoy and how much those blessings depend upon the sacrifice of others. I refer, of course, to the sacrifice of our men and women of America's Armed Forces." Read more about supporting our troops from John Sigler, the President of the NRA on his President's Column in the NRA section of the Extra department.
1-19: Team Crunchinator in the Hobbies department had a pretty good week last week. We crunched 11 work units and earned 2,776 points. View our progress in the gigantic distributed computing project Folding@home. Or don't, don't is OK.
1-14: "'... Obama is prepared to really take power and begin to rule from day one.' Rule? The last man to rule Americans was King George III." NRA Vice President Wayne LaPierre lays it on the line on the Standing Guard page in the NRA section of the Extra department.
1-12: Although we are still falling behind in the rankings, Team Crunchinator is still plugging along a good as ever. Last week we earned 2,740 points by crunching 11 work units. Check out our progress in the Hobbies department.
1-9: "Armed Citizen" is an article in the "American Rifleman" very similar to one of my favorite feature articles in "Guns & Ammo" called "Armed Response". These articles consist of short accounts describing the use of firearms by private citizens to protect lives and property. These are the stories that the mainstream media ignore because they are not so much interested in presenting the truth as much as they are interested in furthering their anti-gun agendas. Some very interesting reading here. It's going on in the NRA section of the Extra department.
1-7: What? Are you still here? Holy cow. So anyway, Team Crunchinator in the Hobbies department is clocking in for the first time in the new year with a new page but the same sad story of declining percentages in the face of all the newer and more powerful computers out there competing with us. Last week we earned 2,450 points buy crunching 10 work units.
1-5: Enough of 2008, good riddance I say. On to 2008, ever forward, never back. Let us all kick the dust of 2008 off of our sandals and move on to the next year that will no doubt torment and punish us no matter how hard we try. It could be worse, we could be room temperature, so I'm not complaining, I'm just sayin'. I've rolled the website around to a new year, try not to touch anything yet, the paint is still wet. If you are looking for 2008, you can find it here on display in the News Archives like a dried bug with a pin stuck through it!
