7-30: The NRA Archive is updated today with the monthly NRA page features for July: Armed Citizen, Standing Guard, and The President's Column. Each of these features are valuable, information packed columns that you will find extremely helpful and interesting even if you are not a firearms owner yourself. For one, it keeps you apprised of the relative honesty and the intentions of the politicos you vote for. For another, it shows you the value of owning your own firearm for protection, recreation, hobby, business, and because for now anyway... you can. The Archives are available any day of the month from the NRA page in the Extra department, look for the link down at the bottom of the table of contents.
7-28: The Team Crunchinator page is updated today with some good results from last week. We managed to crunch 11 work units and earn 2,644 points. That's quite a week from this aging rig. Check it out over in the Hobbies section.
7-25: The peppers are growing up fast. Already there are flower buds opening on all 3 plants and I've changed the frequency of the fertilization schedule. Read all about it on the Chili Pepper Gardner's Diary in the Chili Peppers section of the Hobbies department.
7-23: "As a history buff, I am often intrigued by the similarities between war and politics. With Independence Day approaching and Election Day soon to follow, I'm reminded of how deception has been used as an effective weapon in both war and politics since the American Revolution." And interesting read from John Sigler on the President's Column in the NRA section of the Extra department.
7-21: OK, now we are starting to roll with Folding@home. Ever since I throttled back the nightly virus scan we've been doing much better. Last week we earned 2,722 points by crunching 11 work units! It's going down now on the Team Crunchinator page in the Hobbies department.
7-16: "Florida firearm owners, led by the unrelenting former NRA President, Marion Hammer, have once again preserved armed self-defense, with the enactment of legislation to prohibit antigun employers and business owners from banning legal firearms kept out of sight in locked vehicles in parking lots." This was a hard fought victory over Wal-Mart and Disney backed Brady Campaign. Read about it on the Standing Guard page in the NRA section of the Extra department.
7-14: Apparently my virus scanning software was scheduled by default to scan the entire hard disk every night. When I discovered this I set it back to once a week and my Folding@home score has improved tremendously. Last week Team Crunchinator in the Hobbies department crunched 12 work units and earned 2,981 points. We go.
7-9: "Armed Citizen" is an article in the "American Rifleman" very similar to one of my favorite feature articles in "Guns & Ammo" called "Armed Response". These articles consist of short accounts describing the use of firearms by private citizens to protect lives and property. These are the stories that the mainstream media ignore because they are not so much interested in presenting the truth as much as they are interested in furthering their anti-gun agendas. Some very interesting reading here. It's going on in the NRA section of the Extra department.
7-7: Sorry for the lack of updates, we've had house guests and any excuse to slack off on the website is something I typically jump at. The Hobbies department is updated today with Team Crunchinator's Folding@home results. We earned 2,411 points last week by crunching 10 work units. Booya.
7-1: We are done with June and are now fully commited to July. Yes, we really are that fickle. Fickle and proud. Fickle and proud and a bit gassy. So nothing much going on around here today except for the Joke of the Weak. Enjoy.
