1-31: The NRA Archive is updated today with the monthly NRA page features for January: Armed Citizen, Standing Guard, and The President's Column. Each of these features are valuable, information packed columns that you will find extremely helpful and interesting even if you are not a firearms owner yourself. For one, it keeps you apprised of the relative honesty and the intentions of the politicos you vote for. For another, it shows you the value of owning your own firearm for protection, recreation, hobby, business, and because for now anyway... you can. The Archives are available any day of the month from the NRA page in the Extra department, look for the link down at the bottom of the table of contents.
1-30: October 2005 hits the decks a runnin' with an upgrade to HTML 4.01 Transitional. Click on the News Archives link and sift through the gruesome dried bones of carnal folly in the labyrinthine catacombs of updates past.
1-29: Another good week for Team Crunchinator despite Termie's addiction to Soldier of Fortune II: Double Helix. 1,926 points were earned by crunching 5 work units thereby stomping hapless 13 users into tomato paste. Gory but quite tasty. Check it out in the Hobbies department.
1-26: I realized that I neglected to include a readme in the Joke of the Weak archives of 2005 and 2006. Today I rectify that error by uploading updated archives for those two years. Sorry bout that. You can access the archives from the left hand column of the Joke of the Weak. The archives consist of a downloadable zip file that will put an entire year of the Joke of the Weak on your hard drive for you to enjoy offline at your leisure.
1-25: First off let me wish my wife of 26 years a happy anniversary. I'm buying her a new car you know. Don't tell her I'm buying it, it'll be a big surprise to her that I'm getting this for her, cause... like... she paid for it and all. The first post of the 2007 chile pepper growing season starts today. Check it out in the Chile Pepper Gardner's Diary in the Chile Pepper section of the Hobbies department.
1-24: "The spirit in the American heart that gives us the drive, focus, imagination and ambition to achieve what we do is the same sprit that millions of hunters show in the wilderness." Sandra Froman gives a tribute to the American hunter on the President's Column in the NRA section of the Extra department.
1-23: Big news in the ongoing conversion to HTML 4.01 Transitional front. Yet another News Archive page has been converted. OK OK, not big news to you but it sure made November 2005's day.
1-22: Termie has some explaining to do to the rest of Team Crunchinator. Because of his playing the Prey demo and Soldier of Fortune II the numbers are down. only 1,934 points earned, a measly 5 work units completed and only 6 crummy users bested. Read all about it in the Hobbies department.
1-19: The end of the pepper growing season starts with a series of hard frosts. Read the sad news in the Chile Pepper Gardner's Diary in the Chile Pepper section of the Hobbies department.
1-18: "In the days immediately following the November elections, I spoke with thousands of NRA members from across the nation and am heartened by your thoughtful reaction to the radical change in Congress. Far from any sense of gloom, pro-gun voters are expressing a rededication to the core values of our cause, and a reaffirmation of the fighting spirit that defines the National Rifle Association. We must again prove we can meet any challenge with victory. - Wayne LaPierre, NRA VP" Read more about this on the Standing Guard page in the NRA section of the Extra Department.
1-17: May 2005 makes it into the HTML 4.01 Transitional hall of fame. Take a peek and roll like a dog in the stench of the past in the News Archives.
1-16: A day late today because of the Monday MLK holiday. I'm starting in with the Folding@home results for last week. Team Crunchinator in the Hobbies department pulled down 2,756 points by crunching 7 work units. In the process 9 fellow users were ground under our collective heels.
1-12: The archive of the Joke of the Weak for 2006 is now available for download from the left hand column of the Joke of the Weak page. Downloading the file will put an entire year of jokes on your hard drive that are the same format in which they appear on this website. Double click the html file or drag and drop it into the window of your favorite browser. Enjoy your day, and have a laugh courtesy of the House of Wacks.
1-11: Year 2006 of the Chili Pepper Gardner's Diary gets archived today. Plus there is news that the Habañeros were put to rest and are in pepper heaven, where the days are long and hot and the humidity is at 99%. Rest in peace ... you vicious fiery bastards! Services will be held in the Chili Pepper section of the Hobbies department.
1-10: "Armed Citizen" is an article in the "American Rifleman" very similar to one of my favorite feature articles in "Guns & Ammo" called "Armed Response". These articles consist of short accounts describing the use of firearms by private citizens to protect lives and property. These are the stories that the mainstream media ignore because they are not so much interested in presenting the truth as much as they are interested in furthering their anti-gun agendas. Some very interesting reading here. It's going on in the NRA section of the Extra department.
1-9: If you were worried that the conversion to HTML 4.01 Transitional would not follow you into the new year you can rest assured that I am on the case and will not let you conversion fans down. Today March 2005 went under the knife and is ready for reliving in the News Archives.
1-8: Year 2006 of Team Crunchinator has been archived and is now accessible via link from the main folding page in the Hobbies department. For some reason, possibly network congestion or Folding@home server problems causing a failure to upload new work units, only 4 work units were completed this week. A paltry 1,557 points were earned and only 5 users bested.
1-4: The last entry of the old year and the first entry of the new year is now up in the Chili Pepper Gardener's Diary in the Chili Pepper section of the Hobbies department. The last of the Habañeros have been harvested, counted and a store value put on them.
1-3: We are having a laid back week due to the holidays. Normally produced on Mondays, it is finally Wednesday before I can get around to publishing the Team Crunchinator results. It was another good week thanks to Termie being in a total body cast and unable to play games. We earned 2,764 points while crunching 7 work units and besting 16 fellow users. Read all about it in the Hobbies department.
1-1: Happy New Year! Nothing really to report other than the website has been turned over for 2007. I'll have the Joke of the Weak for 2006 ready for download hopefully this week. If you've survived last night, and you are not too hung over you are one of the lucky ones ... or you are like me, a toe teadler. Here is hoping the entire planet has a great year ahead of it!
